Warning – HUGE Game of Thrones spoilers coming your way. Please do not read further if you are like me and waited like three years to start watching the show.
Also, the grammar/writing style isn’t my best because FEELINGS and EMOTIONS and SHOCK.
Here’s a picture of a puppy so that you know I’m serious.
Well, I just finished the infamous “Red Wedding” episode and it was just as awful as everyone had said it would be. I’m really surprised that I’d stayed away from spoilers for it for that long. I remember people making a huge fuss over the episode when it was first released last summer, but I purposely avoided reading anything about it because I knew I’d watch the show one day.
Since I had heard about several major characters dying during this infamous wedding, I tried to guess who would die as I watched the series. Arya is my favorite so I thought maybe it would be her, just so I could prepare myself. Then with the different Lannister weddings, I just assumed that something would happen to maybe Cercei, because I think I inadvertently read a spoiler about her (Cercei is an awful human being, but Lena Headey is sooooo good. I think I will miss Cercei if she dies just because of Lena Headey’s performance.)
It wasn’t until maybe episode 8, when the various characters started making plans to attend Edmure Tully’s wedding, that I was like, “OH SHIT, NO.”
I had assumed the killings would be reserved for episode 10, but since episode 9 focused primarily on the Tully/Frey wedding, I realized that this was it. And then when Robb and his wife Talisa were talking about their unborn child, I was like STOP TOYING WITH MY HEART, GEORGE R.R. MARTIN, I KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING. And when the creepy Lannister song started to play and the reception hall doors were closed, my heart was just pounding.
I mean, Robb isn’t even one of my favorite characters, but the scene was just so awful. Talisa’s death (being stabbed repeatedly in the stomach) was really haunting. I honestly think that was the worst death of the three major characters. Then Catelyn’s last stand to save her son. And then the poor direwolf dying too. It was just sad. And even worse, Arya was right outside, about to be reunited with her family.
Awful, awful, awful.
I was going to keep the last episode until tomorrow, so that I could recover, haha…but I think I’m ready to watch episode 10. I think.
